Social Entrepreneurship

Fotabe University (FUNIC) is a national leader in Social Entrepreneurship and has been at the center of making Bamenda, in the North West Region of Cameroon,  the most socially Entrepreneurial city in the country. FUNIC provides a FREE internet-equipped space for young people from all over the country nicknamed “Socien City.”

‘Sociencity’ (Social Entrepreneurship City) is the first Social Entrepreneurship hub in Bamenda, set up for young men and women from all over the country to acquire skills in Social Entrepreneurship and benefit from mentorship and funding support to start social enterprises.

This hub was set up as part of FUNIC’s corporate social responsibility efforts.   

Membership is Free and is open to men and women from all over the National territory who aspire to become social entrepreneurs. Every cohort of 10 young people receive support for three months, at the end of which they will take part in a social entrepreneurship challenge organized as part of activities of the "Kansas Hill conference" which brings together Social Entrepreneurs, students, and government officials from across the country .

This annual National Social entrepreneurship Conference was nicknamed "Kansas Hill Conference after Kansa City in the United States of America, which is known for Social Entrepreneurship. The first conference was organized by the Founding president of FUNIC in 2017. Today, Bamenda is popularly known as “Kansas hill”, the most socially entrepreneurial city in the country.

One important highlight of the Annual Kansas Hill Conference is the ANNUAL SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP CHALLENGE which gives young people from around the country and all  registered members of “Socien city” the opportunity of presenting their Social Enterprise ideas to a jury of social Entrepreneurs and receive guidance to raise seed capital ( through crowdfunding) and set up their social enterprises.
